LORE project at the end
The 29th November, it has been held in Brussels the last review meeting of LORE project.
It has been a very exciting meeting because the review team wanted to discuss with us about the future of LORE. They knew we made a very good job under different points of view and also considering all the items in the standard review checklist.
Started at the beginning of 2000, LORE has involved 5 European companies (Cézanne Software, Sopheon, Fordesi, CIRA, EPAL) in 30 months, corresponding to 236 man/months effort, 29 deliverables, 5 successful reviews. The global project cost is equal to 2.4 million of Euro, whose 50% funded by the European Commission.
The project carried out a research, both on the applications and technologies, on the possibility to maximize the benefits and the value of knowledge management by means two key factors: the link between knowledge and people (competencies, roles, positions, …) and the linguistic analysis of unstructured information. The prototype developed and tested at two different industrial sites, is based on innovative technologies, like the XML for managing the information inside and outside the system, the SOAP protocol for the connection of different machines and powerful algorithms for the linguistic analysis of natural language written documents.
Today LORE is represented by a set of extremely detailed technical specifications, a full tested prototype, two well described different business cases and by a market analysis on the reference sector.
